This is my new mantra – if each person in the 98642 zip code donated $75 to the library’s building fund we’d have enough money to start building. Can you help?

The CHAIR-ity Dinner/Auction last Saturday brought in a large amount of contributions. Final results are not in yet, but it is definitely the most we’ve raised at any fund raiser. We had a lot of fun and raised a lot of money. Thanks to all who participated and the hard work our Friends and other volunteers put in to make the evening a success.

On another subject, meetings will be held to determine what the community would like in the library, so start making lists of what’s important to you. One person suggested to me that solar panels should be included, and I totally agree. In this day and age, and with the great sun exposure we’ll have, there’s no reason not to use them. We missed a bet on the new schools – let’s not repeat that mistake.

It’s easy to donate to the library building fund. Make your check out to the Friends of the Ridgefield Library and mail it to PO Box 534, Ridgefield, WA 98642, or take it to the library. Contributions may be tax deductible.

If you want to be a Cornerstone member by donating $1000, the money can be paid in regular increments, but you do need to sign a form in order for the Treasurer to track payments. There are other levels of giving also. Each major donor will received recognition on a display at the new library. You can designate your donation be used only for the building fund if you like.

An anonymous donor has pledged to match donations to the Ridgefield Library of $10,000 or more, up to a million dollars. Please consider this option. There is a time factor to this offer, so act now.
