A Tribute to Connie Maul

Life without Limits

Connie Maul, an amazing man, who even after a tragic and debilitating injury, continued to live life on his own terms. Connie knew what he was about, defied all odds, and did it his way, even as he passed away on January 11, 2018, less than one month shy of his 91st birthday.

He provided his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends with a rich exposure to the world of construction, house-building, wood shop, horses, hunting, boats, games, and puzzles. And then there was the Connie Maul way. He hated drinking water and realized that the real key to a long and independent life was Coca Cola and coffee, straightforward good food with as few vegetables as possible, cookies, and cinnamon rolls from his dear neighbor Cindy.

Connie was blessed by the care that was unreservedly given by his wife Helen and, following her passing two years ago, by his wonderful caregivers and his family. There are truly gifts and blessings in life, and the kind and gifted women (Laurie, Arlene, Donna, Alyssa, Michelle, and Julie) that patiently cared for him and helped him retain his independence and dignity cannot be overstated.

Connie Maul will be buried at Sara Union cemetery this Saturday, January 20th at 11 am. Following burial, there will be a gathering at Zebrun’s Starliner, beginning around noon, to celebrate Connie’s life with family and friends. If you knew Connie and would like to attend at the graveside or join the Maul family at Starliner afterwards please feel welcome. Light snacks and beverages will be served.
