Longest Night Service at Ridgefield Nazarene Church

The Longest Night Service is a time to recognize that for many, Christmas can be a bittersweet time of the year. The constant refrain we hear about getting together with family, reminds many people of what and who they have lost, or what they never had. The anguish of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, the pain of isolation – all these can make us feel very much alone in the midst of the festive season. We need to know that we are not alone. We need to know God’s presence during this season.

So on the longest night, here at Ridgefield Nazarene, on December 20 at 6:00 pm, we invite you to a worship service that takes time for remembering, sharing our hurting places with God, and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ.

Join with us to hear scripture, offer prayers for healing and wholeness, and to hear songs that acknowledge that God’s presence is for those who mourn, for those who grieve, for those who struggle. God’s Word comes to shines light in our darkness.

You are invited to place an ornament in memory of your loss on the Blue Tree in our foyer. Ornaments will be returned on the Longest Night Service or after if you are not able to attend.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Bible School at Bethel

Backyard Vacation Bible School will be held Monday through Friday, August 13-17, from 9am to noon at Bethel Church, 2306 NW Carty Road.

Strawberries at Nazarene Church

Once again the Nazarene Church has strawberries for sale on the lawn in front of the church on Pioneer Street. I bought a flat, and the berries are HUGE!

They’re donated by the Dobbes family, who belong to the church. The proceeds go to support their Vacation Bible School, which starts Monday. (See flyer, below.)

The booth is manned most of the day, and there will be someone there until the berry crop is depleted, perhaps another five days or so. A flat costs $18, half a flat is $10 and a halleck is $2.

They make wonderful freezer jam.
