RHS Football @ Castle Rock – Week 1

Our RHS football team traveled to Castle Rock last Friday night and picked up a tough fought win 34-6.  It was a very physical battle, but our boys won that battle.  Offensively senior quarterback, Jonah Roberts, threw three touchdown passes.  One of those receiving touchdown passes were senior fullback Noah Couch with a catch over the middle on short yardage and then again on a screen play.  Senior David Causey also caught a long ball in the first half to score and put RHS in control of the game.  Running the ball into the end zone were seniors Nathan Eggleston and Cody Duncan.  All of these plays were made possible by the awesome line play up front for the Spudders.

The defense was lead by junior Nick Thomas with many great stops and an interception to stop the Rocket offense.  The defense played very well as a team with many individuals stepping up to keep the Castle Rock offense to very few yards on the ground or through the air.  Special teams were lead by junior Tommy Herz with some wonderful returns off punts and kick offs, while making some great tackles on punt and kick off teams.

Overall a very good start to the 2014 football season – Expect To Win!

Congrats to Samantha Rice

The week before spring break, Samantha Rice, RHS softball player, had a super three game stretch, and has been recognized as the 2A WIAA Athlete of the Week, check out the link below and see more about the award.

Advertise in RHS Football Program

Here’s a chance to advertise your business in the RHS football program. This is a great way to get your name out in the community (football is big in Ridgefield) and support the high school football program.

Let Dan Anderson, our new football coach tell you about it:

“As many of you know, I am now the head football coach at Ridgefield High School.  We started daily doubles yesterday and we are really looking forward to moving up to the 2A Greater St. Helens League and the challenges it will provide.  We will be printing a 15-20 page professional, glossy program that will be distributed at all of our home games this year.  It will be the quality you see at college games.

“We are currently selling advertising for this program at the rates of $150 for 1/4 page, $195 for 1/2 page and $295 for a full page.  As you can imagine, I also have received many requests for advertising through the years with the construction company and winery – so I am only asking to advertise in this program if it fits your advertising budget and plan.  You would just need to submit a camera ready JPG (high def if possible) along with the check to RHS Football Boosters.  With our season starting in the next couple of weeks, we need to get these in as soon as possible.”

This is a good chance to show community spirit!

KWRL Wins Again!

KWRL wasted no time getting runs on the board to finish off the scrappy Idaho team.  It was 3-0 after the first and they added runs each inning until going ahead 10-0 in the 4th.  After changing pitchers KWRL gave up two runs – one earned.  KWRL then scored 3 more runs in the top of the fifth and shut them out the rest of the way to finish the win.

Final score was KWRL 13, Idaho 2.

Babe Ruth Baseball

KWRL (Kalama-Woodland-Ridgefield-La Center-Amboy/Yacolt) finished off a great July in 15U Babe Ruth Baseball.  They first won the District Championship and then were the runner up at the State Championships the week after.  The players from Ridgefield were: Parker Baker, Oliver Bournival, Jonah Roberts, Carter Stader (injured), and Austin Zimmerman. FYI says ‘good work’ to these young people (and their parents) for the dedication they’ve exhibited to their sport.

Strikers Soccer Team Wins

Congratulations to the Pacific Football Club Strikers Soccer Team that won the U-14 division of the PCU Summer Classic over the weekend.

Seven of the boys attend View Ridge Middle School.  They played five games over the weekend at Delta Park in Portland and won all five games outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 20-3.  They are coached by Julie Williams, a Ridgefield resident.
