We are getting close to having enough money to start building a new library, and it’s time to ramp up our efforts.

I know many of you are planning to donate $1,000 to the library building fund so that you can be listed as a Cornerstone Society donor for the new Ridgefield Community Library. Here’s a way to make your money worth twice as much.

I’m looking for nine other people to join me in donating $1,000 to the Ridgefield Library Building Fund.  Our contributions will be tax deductible because they will be made payable to the Fort Vancouver Regional Library (FVRL) Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.  All of us will get a donation tax receipt for the money we contribute.

Keep in mind, if you are over 70 ½, like me, you can do even better by making your gift directly from an IRA account so you don’t have to pay tax on the required minimum distribution.

Here’s the best part: as soon as we have enough people to make a contribution of $10,000 or more, our combined contribution will be matched by a challenge grant from the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington.  The challenge grant will match all gifts of $10,000 or more, up to $1 million.

As a special bonus, as soon as the first nine of you let me know you want to be part of this, we’ll have a dinner party at my house to celebrate and turn in our checks.

And it doesn’t need to end there. If more than nine of you contact me, I’ll host more than one dinner party.  Or, if you want to organize your own fundraising soiree for the new library, just call me or send me an email and I’ll share some of the requirements.

I also know that there may be some folks out there who might want to contribute $10,000 or more directly to the Ridgefield Library Building Fund, because you like the idea of doubling your donation with matching funds.  I say go for it.  You can come to my dinner party if you want, and I’d also be happy to bake you one of my homemade pies.

If this is something you’re interested in, or need more information, please give me a call at 360-887-2160. I look forward to having you over for dinner! I’m a pretty good cook!
