Good News about the Library

Last night at the Friends of the Library meeting we were shown computer-generated views of the proposed interior and exterior layouts of the remodeled library, and I was very impressed. Raising the ceiling on the western side makes the interior look very roomy and inviting. Clerestory windows facing east bring in lots of light, and the entrance is floor to ceiling windows.

Naming opportunities for various parts of the library are now available, ranging from $1,000,000 for naming the library, down to $100 to buy a shelf end panel (30 needed). One item I was very interested in is a ‘hearing loop.’ It’s a copper wire that loops around the rooms to enable hard-of-hearing people (like me) to hear better inside the building. That takes a $5,000 gift.

Please note that the naming rights are for new money only – we still need about a million dollars.
