The Friends of the Ridgefield Library had an active and productive 2017, and have more planned for 2018! This is a recap of the programs and events they sponsored last year.

Our Winter Used Book Sale in February brought in $4,000.

In February A Winter Tea benefit for the Friends netted $3,280.

Kathy Winters taught a watercolor workshop, bringing in $450.

The Vinnie’s Pizza cash-back night in March raised $927.

We had a booth at every 1st Saturday Farmer’s Market (6) selling used books and other items. We made $670 on all of these.

An Egg Decorating and Hula Dancing workshop raised $110.

In June, 3Peaks once again hosted a cash-back event for us. The proceeds from that event were $571.

The “Chair-ity” fundraiser in August raised an impressive $5,500.

For the third year in a row, our fundraising golf tournament was held at Tri-Mountain golf course. Between tickets to play and raffles, we made $4,800.

In October, we sold popcorn and cider for children of all ages who braved the soggy weather during the Halloween Hall. We received $135 in sales and donations.

The Autumn Used Book Sale and Membership Drive Kick-Off in October brought in a healthy $3,476.

In November, we sold yummy baked goods during the Chickadee Arts & Crafts Bazaar. Our sweet rewards totaled $300.

During the FVRL’s Annual Author’s and Illustrator’s Silent Auction in November, our members arranged for gift baskets and art pieces to be auctioned off for proceeds totaling a little over $1,000.

Kathy Winters hosted an Open House and Art Sale to benefit the library in November. She donated the proceeds, $559.

During Hometown Celebration in December, Friends hosted an Open House in the Library AND organized a huge bake sale, bringing in $300+.

Kathy Winters held a Christmas card painting workshop, donating another $135 to our coffers.

Monthly Silent Auctions in the library yielded $334.

Thanks to all who presented programs and participated in the Friends activities. We’re always looking for more volunteers. Make a difference in your community! Meet new people! Feel good about giving back!
