Meaningful Movies

Wednesday’s Meaningful Movie will be “Anita, Speaking Truth to Power.” Library conservations with refreshments for sale at 6:30k previews at 6:45 and film at 7 pm. It’s at the Old Liberty Theater, 115 North Main Avenue on the 24th, and is free. Donations are welcome.

This Academy Award-winning documentary by Freida Le Mock takes on law professor Anita Hill’s testimony at the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings and its two-decade-long aftermath. This is a thoughtful, deeply felt account of Hill’s remarkable journey and transformation from private citizen to internationally respected gender equality activist.

Jasmine Rucker Tolbert will be our guest speaker and lead the discussion after the movie. Ms. Tolbert is the Vice President of Vancouver, WA, NAACP and on the Board of Directors for the YWCA Clark County.
