Senior Library Assistant Position Open at Ridgefield Community Library

Fort Vancouver Regional Library District (FVRL) is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time (24 hours per week) Senior Library Assistant opening at Ridgefield Community Library. This is a great opportunity for individuals who have a passion for working with the public, creating and presenting programs to groups of patrons of all ages and who want to make a positive impact in their communities.

The primary responsibilities of a Senior Library Assistant are assisting with patrons and books in the library branch and planning and presenting programs in the branch and community. A typical day could include these tasks:

 Answering patron questions regarding library resources and services, as well as technology, equipment and devices

 Planning and presenting programs in coordination with the branch manager and/or Senior Branch Supervisor

 Presenting a weekly story time for children

 Acting as the Person in Charge (PIC) of the branch for up to eight hours at a time

 Participating in community events and delivering programs and services offsite

 Performing routine circulation duties including creating and updating patron accounts and checking materials in and out

 Shelving materials and removing items from circulation

The compensation for this position begins at $15.48 per hour with an excellent benefits package including health insurance benefits, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, short term and long term disability benefits, Washington State PERS retirement and paid time off.
