California Woman Sentenced for Massive Fentanyl Distribution in Boston

A 25-year-old woman from California, Brenda Hernandez of Stockton, has been sentenced for her involvement in the distribution of over five kilograms of fentanyl in Boston.

The sentencing, carried out by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper, includes 22 months of imprisonment and two years of supervised release. Hernandez had previously pleaded guilty in October 2023 to one count of distributing 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

On May 24, 2022, Hernandez traveled from California to Boston, where she checked into a hotel. Subsequently, she visited a local mail retrieval store and collected a package containing over five kilograms of fentanyl, which had been sent from out-of-state. Later that day, Hernandez distributed the illicit substances to individuals in Boston.

The announcement of the sentencing was made by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, along with Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England, and John E. Mawn Jr., Interim Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan D. O’Shea of the Worcester Branch Office.
