TOPEKA, Kan. – Over the weekend, 24 Kansas youth were placed with their new adoptive families during National Adoption Day celebrations across the state.
KVC Kansas announced on Sunday, Nov. 24, that it helped facilitate 24 adoptions during events in Topeka and Olathe. National Adoption Day is an annual event that emphasizes the importance of adoption in creating lasting connections for children in foster care.
Throughout National Adoption Month in November, KVC celebrated 31 adoption finalizations. So far in 2024, nearly 150 children have been matched with adoptive families.
KVC partners with the Kansas Department for Children and Families and Adopt Kansas Kids to support the adoption process.
“National Adoption Day serves as a reminder that every child deserves a loving, permanent family,” said Linda Bass, President of KVC Kansas. “The power of connection is immeasurable, and the connections made through adoption provide youth with the stability, love, and support they need to thrive.”
KVC officials also highlighted that adoption from foster care is open to individuals from all backgrounds, and many families are surprised to learn that the process is essentially free, with costs covered by the state.
As of Sunday, nearly 2,000 children in foster care are still waiting to find their forever families. KVC continues to act as a bridge connecting children with loving homes.
Since 2005, more than 5,550 youth have been matched with adoptive families through the organization. Those interested in adoption can learn more by visiting their website.
