NYPD Officer’s Lawsuit Reveals Alleged Misuse of Private Photo

Alisa Bajraktarevic, a New York City police officer, has caused a stir within the department by filing a lawsuit against it, alleging the improper dissemination of her nude photo, reports WITB. This legal action stems from Bajraktarevic’s suspension for purportedly obstructing officers during an incident involving her partner, who is accused of being a drug dealer.

The 34-year-old officer contends that a topless image of her from 2012 gained widespread circulation after she faced charges of obstructing justice in April of the preceding year. As per Bajraktarevic’s legal complaint, filed in December in Manhattan Supreme Court, the private photo quickly spread through the department’s internal communication channels during her suspension.

The lawsuit details that Bajraktarevic initially shared the nude image with Lt. Mark Rivera, a colleague with whom she had a brief romantic involvement upon joining the force in 2012. However, the photo allegedly circulated within the department following a dispute with her boyfriend, Kelvin Hernandez, who was subsequently charged with resisting arrest.

During the incident, Bajraktarevic purportedly attempted to leverage her law enforcement credentials to shield Hernandez from a vehicle search, resulting in a 30-day suspension without pay. The department also advised her to sever ties with Hernandez.
