Trinity Shockley, the 18-year-old who allegedly planned a mass shooting in Indiana on Valentine’s Day, was reportedly obsessed with other known mass shooters.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Shockley was “sexually attracted” to Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz and kept a collage of him, Dylann Roof, and Andrew Blaze, all mass shooters, in her room.
The affidavit, obtained by WISH and written by Detective Matthew M. McDaniel, depicts a Discord conversation between Shockley and two other people in which they allegedly discussed her mass shooting plans.
During a conversation with the user “TCC Marna,” Shockley allegedly shared a photo of a collage depicting Dylan Roof. He is the mass murderer who committed the Charleston church shooting. In addition, Shockley allegedly sent pictures of AR15 rifles.
Following the conversation transcription, the affidavit describes Trinity Shockley’s meeting with school counselor Laura Mikesell on February 11 at Mooresville High School. Shockley would reveal to Mikesell her sexual attraction to Cruz.
“Trinity wanted to speak with Miss Mikesell about some ongoing issues and ended up disclosing to her that she was sexually attracted to Nikolas Cruz, the Parkland School Shooter,” according to the witness statement. “Trinity spoke about how she wanted to have multiple children with Nikolaz and that she has already named the children.”
According to the document, Shockley informed Mikesell that she had attempted to contact Cruz several times. She also showed the counselor a “heart locket necklace” with the mass murderer’s photograph inside.
Apartment Search
The next day, February 12, Detective McDaniel arrived at Shockley’s apartment, where she lives with her father. She discovered the same collage that was shown in the aforementioned Discord conversation.
“I observed in Trinity’s bedroom some photos on the wall depicting Dylann Roof that matched the collage on Discord,” according to the witness statement. “I also knew that this was Trinity’s room because it contained all of her belongings and her school backpack.”
Detective McDaniel then collected the mass murderers’ photographs as evidence. He would then find a poster for Zero Day, a found-footage film about a school shooting. Shockley also owned a framed photo of Dylann Roof. According to the document, she also had Nikolas Cruz’s wallpaper on her laptop.
Trinity Shockley was charged with conspiracy to murder and two terrorism-related offenses.
